From Italo, we can deduce that there’s one thing Esosa will never learn, and it’s a lesson.
One would think that the anxiety of having to keep another secret from the supposed love of her life and going through a break in between would give her enough courage to come clean about her past.
That’s actually quite a bit much for her. At this point of the show, she’s still trying to blame everyone else for her choices and choosing not to take responsibility for any of her actions.
Beyond the trauma she has faced from trafficking, her constant need to paint a perfect image of her background and create a second chance life for herself has constantly put her in a position where she has to be what she’s not. She finally has her dream man, but how long did she really think her Cinderella fever will last?
With her relationship with Collins in jeopardy, she still lacks the courage to come clean about everything she’s hiding. Besides their – Collins and Esosa – feelings, another victim of their unfortunate situation exposed by Osato, who got the information from Esosa’s ex, Osayande, is Idemudia Limited.
With loitering eyes and influential personalities vying to buy off the company from the Idemudias, Esosa’s secret getting exposed could further force their hands to sell.
Itohan
On the other hand, there’s Itohan, the trafficker, who has a perceived strong sense of family but little loyalty if it doesn’t serve a purpose to her endless pursuits.
From trying to sell Idemudia Limited for a mere seat of Women’s Leader, to going as far as trafficking other people’s children but protecting hers fiercely, Itohan’s secrets are further digging her a grave that she soon won’t be able to escape.
In Italo, everything is connected. It is now established that Esosa’s ex, Osayande, who randomly appears to want to rekindle his bond with her, is a mole sent to investigate Idemudia Limited.
Shockingly, he also happens to have made his way to the audit unit of Idemudia Limited, where he gets first-hand information on their every move. Soon, he loses his job and desperately needs Esosa’s connection with the Idemudias to scale. However, Esosa’s bond with the Idemudia is more than she envisages.
She’s not just Collin’s fiancee or as it stands now ex-fiancee, she’s Monalisa’s mother, a teenage girl who has believed all her life that Itohan was her mother.
Osato and Collins
Then there’s Osato, who, out of spite, reveals Esosa’s past, but on the contrary, does her a favour. In future episodes, there must be some sort of karma waiting for her as she not only hires thugs to physically assault Esosa enough to induce the termination of her child with Collins, but her singular act has led to irreparable damage for Esosa, so much so that she can no longer bear children.
On the other end of things there is Omotola who is still fighting for her chance at love with Emmanuel despite cheating with the ‘good for nothing’ Imafidon. She refuses to reflect on her actions and barely learns to draw any boundaries between her and Imafidon due to her physical needs.
There’s so much going on, with these women further pushing themselves into despair without actively evaluating their situations and taking accountability for their actions.
How long can these women hold on to what is dear to them, whether that is love or power? Time will tell as they continue to stumble and pick themselves up while putting their loved ones at risk in more ways than one.
