The outlet warns that "the southwestern regions could receive freezing rain," while "precipitation could quickly turn into rain for Greater Montreal" as temperatures rise overnight.

In fact, Environment Canada's Montreal forecast shows a similar pattern playing out. On Wednesday night, Montrealers can expect "light snow beginning late this evening then changing to rain overnight," with "freezing rain in Laval after midnight." Temperatures are expected to climb to 5 C by morning, which should thaw out any slippery conditions.

Thankfully, the freezing rain amounts aren't expected to be major this time around. As MétéoMédia reports, "less than 5 mm of ice is expected in Greater Montreal and Montérégie," which means we're not looking at widespread power outages, but the roads and sidewalks could still get slick.

By Thursday, Montreal will transition into full spring mode (at least temporarily), with a forecasted high of 16°C and rain during the day, according to Environment Canada. But don't put away your winter gear just yet — there's more rain on the way this weekend and even a "60 percent chance of flurries" on Monday.

Looks like we're in for a classic April weather rollercoaster. Stay safe out there — and maybe keep your boots and umbrella close, just in case.

Love this?
