Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has expressed his concerns about the demanding schedule for the current season.

Kevin De Bruyne, a former Chelsea midfielder, has singled out FIFA and UEFA for criticism, citing a surplus of additional fixtures.

This season, De Bruyne’s Manchester City are expected to participate in a wide range of competitions organized by FIFA, UEFA, and the English FA.

The 33-year-old has accused UEFA and FIFA of prioritizing financial gains over the welfare of the players.

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, the Belgian midfielder emphasized that while the current season may not present insurmountable challenges, the following year could pose significant problems.

De Bruyne highlighted the efforts made by the PFA in England and players’ associations in other countries to find solutions to this issue but expressed frustration at the lack of progress.

“Maybe this year everything will be fine, but next year it will be a problem. The PFA in England and players’ associations in other countries have tried to find solutions”, Kevin De Bruyne said.

“The problem is that UEFA and FIFA are doing extra matches and we can try to say something, but no solution has been found. They don’t care. Money speaks for them.

“I think the real problem will come when we finish the Club World Cup. We know that between the final of the Club World Cup and the first day of the Premier League only three weeks will pass.

“So we have three weeks off and to get ready to play another 80 games later.”
