The yellow weather warning – the lowest level of warning – covers all of Preston and the surrounding area.

A Met Office spokesperson said 20-40mm of rain is expected to fall quite widely with some places seeing up to 60mm of rain during the course of the day.

Once the rain eases on Monday evening the city is due to see a fairly settled period of weather through to the weekend.
