The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has decried a repeated terrorist attack in Mafia Village, Tanrmuwa local government area of Yobe State.
Obi said the repeated killings in Mafia Village after a previous attack that led to the death of 87 residents of the state last week, is a stark reminder of the gravity of the nation’s security situation.
Obi stated this in a statement on Saturday. He reminded Nigerians and the federal government that the current security architecture of the country has failed.
He emphasized that the federal government must take bold steps and declare war on insecurity before it consumes the nation.
He wrote, “Again, I am very saddened by yet another devastating news of the horrific killing otof t several innocent people in Mafia Village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State. This heinous act of violence is a stark reminder of the gravity of our security situation and the urgent need for a paradigm shift in our approach to the challenge.
“The relentless killings, maiming, and displacement of innocent Nigerians are a clear indication that our current security architecture is failing. We must acknowledge this reality and take bold steps, as I have always maintained, by declaring war on insecurity before it consumes us completely.”
