A ram-raid attempt at a Preston city centre jewellers appears to have been thwarted.

Footage sent to Blog Preston shows a silver van trying to break down the entrance to the Whittles store in Fishergate.

One of the display windows to the store – which is an official Rolex stockist – has been left badly damaged by the incident.

The ram-raid took place around 5.30pm on Monday – as bystanders looked on in the city centre. A man is seen on the video protecting the store.

Blog Preston understands police and staff from the jewellers have been seen inside the jewellers during Monday (30 September) evening.

The ram-raid comes just two days after the jewellers announced they are due to rebrand as Loupe UK.

It is not known at this stage whether anything was taken in the ram-raid attempt. Blog Preston will seek comment from police during Tuesday morning.
