An 18-year-old P-plate driver has died after being flung from his car in a horror crash in Perth's south-west.

The Mitsubishi sedan was crumpled beyond recognition after the young driver hit trees on Rockingham Road in Henderson just before 11pm on Tuesday.

Tragically, he was then hit by another vehicle that was stopping to help.

"Its an absolute tragedy, every single death is a tragedy and our hearts go out to all the families and communities impacted," Opposition Leader Libby Mettam said.

Tyre marks were visible on Wednesday for almost 30 metres where the car veered off the road, in an area where the speed limit is 90km/h.

Debris was strewn across the area, where friends of the victim gathered on Wednesday to pay tribute.

They laid bunches of flowers for a mate they described as "awesome".
