Hurricane Helene ruined much of what it encountered in its 500-mile journey across the Southeast US, leaving Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia to battle with record storm surge, wind damage, and catastrophic flooding.

At least 120 people have been killed across the six states, and millions of homes and businesses are without power, the AP reported. Hundreds of people remain missing, and the numbers of missing and dead are likely to increase.

The monstrous Category 4 storm made landfall on Thursday, September 26, after a summer lull in what’s been projected to be an especially active hurricane season. Republican presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump on Monday is expected to visit Valdosta, Georgia, among the communities hit hard by the hurricane. Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris canceled campaign events and is returning to Washington, DC, on Monday for a federal briefing on Helene.
