There are long delays building on the M6 southbound at Preston after a crash.

Three lanes of the motorway are shut from Junction 29 back to Junction 31.

It is causing delays of at least an hour as we head towards Thursday (26 September) rush hour. There’s six miles of tailbacks.

National Highways North West is saying delays are expected for at least the next two hours on the M6.

A spokesperson said: “Our officers at the scene as recovery and clear up works take place after a collision. Recovery is being arranged.”

Congestion is already back to Junction 32 for Broughton and back onto the M55 too at the Broughton interchange.

The delays are due to a crash around 3.30pm close to Junction 30 towards where the M6 meets the M61.
