Preston Railway Station was put into lockdown as BBC Radio 2 In The Park came to a close.

Two people were injured – in what Blog Preston understands is a stabbing incident.

A man has been arrested and is in custody.

The attack took place around 9.30pm on Saturday (7 September).

A police spokesperson said: “This is being treated as an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the public.

“The Fishergate entrance to the station has been closed, however railway users can still gain access via the Butler Street entrance and trains are running as normal.

“Due to the increased number of pedestrians using that entrance, we have placed a temporary road closure on Butler Street.

“There may be some delays on the railway line because of demand, so people may want to consider alternative travel arrangements.”

Eyewitnesses reported seeing armed police swarming the station when the incident took place – and ‘chaos’ as people tried to make their way to get trains after the festival – which finished at 9.45pm.
