A stop sign will be installed at Broughton crossroads after a series of accidents at the junction.
In a letter to chair of Broughton Parish Council, Pat Hastings, Lancashire County Council (LCC) Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Rupert Swarbrick, confirmed the decision.
In the letter, he said: “I am deeply sorry to hear that there have been further road traffic collisions in this area and hope that all those affected are okay.
“I would also like to thank you for the images you provided, as these helped illustrate your concerns.
“As you are aware, we have previously advised that, in accordance with the guidelines set by the Department for Transport, we will only consider ‘stop’ signs at junctions with restricted visibility.
“However, considering the recent incident we have reviewed the junction and due to the number of collisions at this location we will arrange for a ‘stop’ sign to be installed as soon as possible.”
The crossroads has seen numerous crashes since the road layout was amended in the wake of the Broughton Bypass – James Towers Way – opening in recent years.
Mrs Hastings welcomed the news and said it was a positive step in the right direction.
She said: “What we would now like is for rumble strips to be installed on Garstang Road because people simply do not understand the junction.
“We would also like to see the 20mph zone extended towards the roundabout near the bypass at one end, and the railway on the other.
“With a new development near the roundabout and padel courts at Broughton Tennis Club planned, traffic is only going to increase.”

At just an hour and forty-five minutes from Montreal, it’s a no-brainer for both locals and tourists alike.</p><p>Other Canadian destinations grabbing the attention of U.S. travellers include Vancouver and Whistler, with Airbnb noting that skiing remains a winter staple. </p><p>But it’s not just Americans flocking to the slopes.
