Broughton and District Tennis Club’s new padel courts have officially opened.

Blog Preston reported back in May about the planning application for the new courts which have been built on vacant land and across part of the car park at Broughton and District club in Whittingham Lane.

According to the Broughton Padel website, the courts are available to book from 8am to 5pm at the moment, with the longer term aim of being open until 10pm.

Play on the padel courts is available both with membership packages and on a pay as you go basis to non-members and member’s guests.

Work began on the courts in July after planning permission was granted and they can be booked via the website.

Padel is a hugely popular game around the world and is played on a court which is two thirds the size of a normal tennis court.

Combining elements of squash, tennis and badminton, it is popular in countries such as Spain, Portugal and Mexico, with its following in the UK growing in recent years.
