The incident happened on the sideline during the Dallas Cowboys‘ 20-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Lamb was seen apparently looking annoyed and saying something in Prescott’s direction.

The quarterback didn’t immediately acknowledge Lamb’s remarks and looked straight ahead.

NBC commentator Cris Collinsworth was first to note “something’s wrong” after the exchange.

“CeeDee Lamb at the end of that,” he added.

“I’ll let you read your own lips.

“Dak doesn’t react at all. It doesn’t look good.”

And that sent fans into a frenzy trying to work out what was said.

Prescott tried to find Lamb in the end zone a minute before halftime.

But his pass instead landed comfortably in the hands of Steelers defensive back Donte Jackson instead.

And it led to the interaction between the Cowboys quarterback and his star receiver.

Lamb cleared up the incident this week after being asked by reporters.

“I said jump balls, four jump balls,” the wide receiver insisted.

“Me and Dak ain’t got no beef – that’s my locker mate.

“I don’t know what they talking about.”

Lamb’s comments were in contrast to some lip-reading theories.

One fan said, “To me it looks like ‘Subpars, foe (four). Subpar. Deada**.’”

“I’m going with this ‘Subpar throw. Subpar tonight.’” another commented.

While some did guess Lamb’s words correctly.

“He clearly said ‘jump balls, four’,” one adamant fan said.

“My money is on jump balls,” another agreed.
