The joke was in reference to Colin’s former SNL castmate and friend Pete Davidson[/caption]

He replaces Ken Jennings, who is now the presenter of the main series.

And it seems that the show is prepared to make riskier moves on the family friendly favourite, if the new clip is anything to go by.

Posted on the show’s official Instagram, the video sees him blush as category “Big Charles Dickens Energy” pops up on screen.

A nod to the term Big D**k Energy – which was heavily associated with former pal Pete Davidson – Colin can only muster the response, “My God”.

They captioned the clip: “If they don’t have that ‘Big Charles Dickens Energy’ we don’t want ‘em!”

Pop Culture Jeopardy’s reference to Pete comes after Colin reportedly cut all ties from his close friend and SNL co-star.

It’s believed to have got so bad that they won’t even be in 30 Rock, where SNL is filmed, at the same time together, with Colin wanting nothing to do with him.

“Pete and Colin can’t be in 30 Rock together. Something big happened and Colin is now refusing to be in the same building, let alone the same room as Pete,” the insider exclusively told The U.S. Sun.

The split between the friends has surprised many, with the pair once so close they purchased a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry together on a whim in 2022.

The vessel, which cost the pair $280,000 after buying it at auction, finally saw its first official use when Tommy Hilfiger hosted their New York Fashion Week show on board.

While Pete swerved the party, Colin who appeared at the NYFW show on September 8.

Pete, who has been in and out of rehab due to addiction issues as well as having borderline personality disorder, is believed to have cut ties with many former close friends within the industry, and has been branded a “headache” for avoiding work meetings.

Meanwhile Colin, who married Scarlett Johansson in 2020, is now beginning to branch out of 30 Rock’s walls with new roles including Pop Culture Jeopardy.

The mammoth 40-episode season premieres December 4 with three new episodes dropping each week.

It joins Travis Kelce’s Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?, JB Smoove’s Shark Tank-inspired Buy It Now and Nick Cannon’s Wish List Games on a growing list of game shows bought by Prime Video.
