The local government in Rivers State took place over the weekend, amid a lingering feud between the minister of the federal republic of Nigeria, Nyesom Wike and the Governor of the State, Siminalayi Fubara.

The election was marred by controversy, exacerbated by conflicting court orders and the absence of security operatives.

The Action Peoples Party, a proxy party of the Rivers State Governor won in 22 out of the 23 local government areas in the state. The Chairmen were immediately sworn in on a Sunday, eliciting a wave of reactions.

Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar over the weekend said that the outcome of the elections, amounted to a rejection of political oppression and godfatherism in the state.

Supporters of the minister of the federal capital territory, Nysome Wike on Saturday, staged protest against the election, some were heard chanting ‘take your Sim and give me Wike’.

Voters accused the police of carting away ballot boxes at Rumuigbo, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Another video showed some hoodlums destroying voting materials in Ogbumnuabali, Port Harcourt.

Content creator, Uge Elo Kenneth who used his TikTok account to highlight the deplorable state of Shell Road in Sapele, delta state, likening the road to a swimming pool due to frequent flooding, was arrested over the weekend by security operatives.

In the video, Kenneth directly called out the Delta State Governor Sherif Oboweri and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, saying, that both governors have failed the state.

Peter Obi had initially pledged the sum of N20million Naira to the institution, including 15 others, but over paid them by N2.5million.

While redeeming the pledge, the hospital management reported the overpayment, which prompted the former governor to make an additional N10million Naira donation.

Peter Obi also pledged ₦120 million Naira, to the Holy Rosary Sisters in support of their educational, healthcare, and humanitarian efforts.

According to peter Obi, the pledge will be split into two parts: ₦100 million Naira to the Sisters headquarters in Enugu and ₦20 million for Holy Rosary College, in Anambra.

Obi encouraged the sisters to continue their invaluable work, especially in the areas of education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.
