Voters in part of Penwortham get the chance to elect a new local councillor on Thursday (24th October).

A by-election is taking place in the Middleforth ward to find a representative to sit on South Ribble Borough Council.

The patch includes the Middleforth Green, Kingsfold and Lower Penwortham areas.

The polls are open between 7am and 10pm. Voters are reminded that they will need to take a valid form of photo ID with them in order to cast their ballot.

The four candidates contesting the election are:
Joan Burrows – Conservative Party
Clare Burton-Johnson – Liberal Democrats
Laura Crawford-Lane – Labour Party
Ann Moorby – Green Party

The seat – one of three in the Middleforth ward – was recently vacated by now former Labour councillor Will Adams.

Another by-election was held earlier this month with Labour holding a seat in Bamber Bridge.
