A business owner in Preston is facing prosecution after a police raid resulted in a large volume of goods being seized.
Police visited the business on New Hall Lane this afternoon (28 October) after concerns regarding illegal sale of alcohol. A search discovered that despite verbal and written warnings to stop sales and remove from display, sales continued over the weekend.
The alcohol in the business was seized by Lancashire Constabulary who are now seeking to pursue prosecution, stating that ‘lesser action’ is no longer available.

The business has not been named by police pending any legal proceedings.
PC Stephen Connolly, from police licensing, said: “It is disappointing that the premises opted to ignore our warning.
“Prosecution for Licensing offences is a last resort however due to the circumstances, lesser action is not available to us”
Police said that the alcohol is likely to be given to appropriate charities.
