A well-used play area in Penwortham is to see a £200,000 makeover.
The Riverside play area in Margaret Road has been given the go-ahead by South Ribble Borough Council for the upgrade.
It comes as a new water meadow and haven for wildlife is being created nearby by the Environment Agency as part of its multi-million pound flood defence scheme on the River Ribble.

Cabinet member for finance, assets and commercialisation, councillor Matthew Tomlinson, said: “We’re delighted to bring forward another play area refurbishment.
“Play is so important for children’s health, and as a council we are determined to ensure that all children across the borough have access to high quality play and recreational facilities.
“Investing in our play areas allows us to support our communities to come together and access to quality play areas is known to be a factor in reducing anti-social behaviour.
“Along with the newly installed water meadow by the Environment Agency, the area is truly set to be beautiful addition to the borough.”
The borough council say their appointed contractor, Kompan, has agreed to use local suppliers where possible, pay staff a real Living Wage and include visits to local schools as part of its work.
Cllr Tomlinson said: “It’s brilliant that we can ensure that all our developments, large or small, give back to our community, supporting people and boosting our local economy.
“I look forward to this scheme progressing!”
Since 2020 there’s been £2million invested in 13 play areas across South Ribble.
As well as the Margaret Road playground the Tardy Gate play area in Lostock Hall is due to see work start in the Spring.
