Police step up patrols in Longridge after child approached near primary school

Police have stepped up patrols in Longridge after reports of a man approaching a child.

The incident took place shortly before the start of the school day in St Wilfred’s Terrace in Longridge town centre.

A ‘stranger danger’ alert has been issued by police and schools in and around Longridge as a result of the report on Friday 30 September morning.

A police spokesperson said: “We received a report of children being approached by an adult on St Wilfrid’s Terrace, Longridge at around 8.40am on 30th September.

“We know that this may seem concerning to hear, but we want to reassure you that enquiries are ongoing into the report, and we have increased patrols in the area.”

Anyone with information or footage related to the incident can contact police on 101 quoting log 0223 of 5th October.
