Police have stepped up patrols around the city’s Market Hall after reports of anti-social behaviour by youths.

Enquiries are ongoing after reports of a number of youths had entered the Market and were stealing items.

Up to 30 youths are understood to have been involved in the incident which took place around 3.45pm on Tuesday 22 October.

A police spokesperson said no one had been arrested at this stage.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log 889 of 22 October 2024.

A Preston City Council spokesperson told Blog Preston: “During Tuesday afternoon Market staff contacted Preston Police in response to the arrival of a large group of youths exhibiting disruptive and antagonistic behaviour towards traders and members of the public in and around the market.

“Upon the arrival of police, the group quickly dispersed, and arrests were made. We do not condone this kind of behaviour in our city and would like to thank the police for their swift and effective response in maintaining public safety.”
