River Ribble flood warning at Ribchester in force

A flood warning have been issued for Ribchester after heavy and persistent rain battered the county.

In a statement on Gov.uk, flood warnings were issued for the main brooks which flow into the River Ribble, as well as nearby streets.

The statement said: “Rising river levels are expected to cause flooding this afternoon (October 16), .

“Flooding is expected when river levels are at their highest from 2pm on 16/10/2024.

“Areas most at risk include Boyces Brook and Duddel Brook at Ribchester, Ribblesdale Road, Church Street and Sunnyside Avenue areas.

“Further flooding is expected this evening as river levels are expected to remain high due to heavy rainfall.

“We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and checking rivers for blockages.

“Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.

“Consider activating any property flood protection products if you have them.”

A further update is expected at 9.30pm this evening.
