Wendy James, known for her work with Transvision Vamp, is set to play in Preston as part of an in-store tour to promote her latest album.
The tour will see James stopping at iconic record stores such as London’s Rough Trade East – and of course Preston’s very own Action Records.
The Shape Of History, which will be released on Friday 25 October, is James’ tenth album.
It was written, produced, and mixed by James, and recorded between West London and New York City. It will be available in digital format, as well as on vinyl and CD.
Speaking about the tour, James said: “I am so excited to be out on the road again. This time to introduce everyone to the songs on The Shape Of History, fittingly as an in-store tour of the UK. Venues that are near and dear to my heart – record shops!
“Every one of these venues takes pride in delivering music to their customers, introducing new music, re-issuing music gone by and in my case… the culmination of a 10-album odyssey that began in 1986 when I co-formed Transvision Vamp.”

Fans can expect a mix of new tracks and selections from her extensive back catalogue. James promises an intimate experience with a Q&A session and the chance for fans to get signed merchandise.
“It’s going to be a brilliant evening! I’ll play some new tunes from The Shape Of History and I’ll also play a selection from each of my albums,” James added.
James describes her latest album as “a love letter and a thank you note to life so far,” reflecting on both personal growth and her musical journey.
The Shape Of History will be available in stores and online from 25th October.
James will perform at Action Records on Wednesday 6 November. Tickets include a copy of the CD or vinyl and are available from the Action Records website.
