An Ashton-on-Ribble community theatre group is set to perform a pantomime version of Red Riding Hood.

SATA Theatre, which is based at St Andrew’s Church Hall in Tulketh Road, will perform the show later this month.

Written and directed by Stephen Hargreaves, the panto follows the story of the Good Fairy, who banishes her evil brother the wolf from Fairyland – only for him to turn up a few years later with his three little piggy sidekicks Laurence, Llewellyn and Bowen, with a plan to knock Granny Gertie’s house down.

The group has been busy preparing, with rehearsals starting back in September. Work to create scenery, props and costumes is also well underway.

SATA Theatre’s Ste Smith said: “We’ve had a rather productive time so far, and it’s fair to say we have enough walls, floors and random props for hundreds of different pantomimes.

“We’ve been busy reconstructing doors, working out the lighting deck, applying several new layers of paint to our backdrops, and climbing through the costume cupboards for every shade of panto clothing you could possibly imagine.”

Red Riding Hood is on at St Andrew’s Church Hall in Ashton-on-Ribble on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 at 7.30pm, and Saturday 30 November at 2.30pm.

The Saturday matinee performance is already sold out, but tickets are available for Thursday and Friday evenings.

Priced at £9 for adults and £7 for children, tickets are available from the SATA Theatre website.
