A BEST Buy shopper claimed to have issues with his purchase after the price of his mobile device changed.
X user Apoorv Gaur posted a complaint about the tech store online to “highlight discrepancies.”
One shopper griped with the iconic tech retailer’s return policy – though the details were unclear[/caption]
Best Buy’s customer service responded to his tweets, and a detail in the company’s return policy may explain his issue.
RETURN TIME
He said he’d bought a mobile device last month with a 14-day return policy.
But now, he says the device has a return period of 60 days.
He claimed to have confirmed this with a customer service representative.
That has vexed Gaur because the price of the device has changed.
He said the price dropped by $200 since he bought it.
THE RESPONSE
A company representative replied to one of Gaur’s tweets.
“We would like to see if we can assist you in any way,” they said.
The representative then asked him for more information in a private message.
It’s not clear if Gaur ever reached out to clear up the issue.
He did, however, add another tweet to the chain.
“I need you to honor the price match,” he said. “This is not against the ethics!”
While it’s not entirely clear what caused him to say this, it seems that he was trying to ensure that if he returned the device after 14 days, he would still get a full refund.
That may be tricky if the price has changed.
SIXTY DAYS?
Best Buy’s return policy shows that there are some purchases that can be returned for up to 60 days.
But that’s for people with specific loyalty memberships.
My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total members get a 60-day return period on certain items.
While it’s not known whether Gaur is a member, it seems that this could be where the 60-day number came from.
Shoppers with questions about the return period should contact the company for clarification.
Best Buy recently responded to a customer who threatened to “return all items” after their store experience.
Gaur is not the only one with gripes about the company’s return policy — some have said the standard return period is much too short.
