A man has been taken into custody after heavily armed police swarmed a home in Melbourne's west following shots being fired at officers.
Police urged residents at Leon Drive, Weir Views, to stay in their homes after 4.30pm today as they negotiated with "an armed male" who allegedly shot at police.
"Police are currently negotiating with an armed male at a property in Leon Drive in Weir Views," a Victoria Police spokesperson has said.

"The man fired shots at police before entering the house in Weir Views. No one was injured.
"The area surrounding has been cordoned off while the incident is underway. We will provide further information when it is available."
Heavily armed police were seen scaling rooftops and flooding nearby streets and backyards amid the siege.
Just before 6pm, police swarmed what appeared to be the house of interest and removed a toddler and a man.
A second man was seen shirtless handcuffed outside the front of the home while he was treated by paramedics just before 6.30pm.
Weir Views is about 35 kilometres west of Melbourne CBD.
