A Melbourne mother has allegedly been stabbed to death after an apparent dispute between neighbours.
A man was strapped down and stretchered out of a home at Bayswater after the alleged assault at 11am today.
It is understood the 47-year-old man knocked on the home of a 51-year-old woman and attacked her multiple times with a knife.

"It's not a family violence incident, it is a tragic set of circumstances," Victoria Police detective senior sergeant Chris Ellway said.
The alleged incident was witnessed by three young people, including the woman's children – aged 16 and 11.
The alleged attacker's son, a 17-year-old boy, was also inside the home and had wounds to his hand.

"They're being looked after at the police station at the moment, statements are being taken and their welfare is being taken care of there," Ellway said.
The man then went to a neighbouring address, where he was arrested a short time later and taken to Moorndah Hospital with a medical complaint.
"Another woman lost at the hands of a man is just horrible," Ellway said.
