The Ondo State Governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has cast his vote in the ongoing governorship election in the state.
Naija News gathered that Aiyedatiwa, who was once the Deputy to the late governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, cast his vote at Ugbonla, Ilaje LCDA.
Aiyedatiwa is battling with Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other governorship candidates to retain his position.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that the Ondo State governorship election would be free and fair.
INEC’s National Commissioner Supervising Ondo, Ogun and Osun States, Professor Kunle Ajayi, promised that the commission would not disappoint the Ondo voters.
Ajayi, who stated this on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, advised Ondo voters to go out en mass to cast their voters.
He explained that the commission had done every work they should do for Saturday’s (today) governorship election. He added that the integrity of the process would be protected.
“We have done our own work, we are proud of what we have done and we will not disappoint the people of Ondo State,” Ajayi said.
He also called on the political actors to cooperate by following the rules to ensure a peaceful election. He further stressed the need for voters to conduct themselves orderly at polling units.
The INEC National Commissioner noted that, unlike the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, all the registered areas in Ondo State have received their sensitive materials.
