The Winter Lodge in Friargate has opened two temporary huts for the festive period.

The Christmas-themed huts will be in place until early January, serving up festive music, German hot dogs, waffles, steins and mulled wine.

The bar marked the start of its festive opening period with an Oktoberfest-themed event with music and Bavarian beers.

A busy lineup of events lies ahead, including live music every Friday and Saturday.

On Friday 15 November, Brush & Tipple will take over for a cosy evening of painting a winter scene in acrylics on canvas. A week later, Majestic Wines will host a night of Christmassy wines.

Co-owner and Christmas’ number one fan, Ryan Peake, is hoping the huts will pave the way for a full Christmas markets next year.

Ryan told Blog Preston: “We looked into organising a market this year, but instead will be running the outdoor huts to test the concept.

“The huts are self-funded and we’re hoping they will prove to potential investors that the city needs a Christmas market.”
