Preston marking Remembrance in the 1980s, the classic red Ribble buses and more have been captured in a photographer’s latest memories.

Paul Melling who grew up in Preston has uncovered more from his archives.

Two previous sets of pictures released by Paul of various scenes around the city in the early 1980s have proved very popular on Blog Preston and in the Preston Past and Present group.

The latest pictures show the city’s Docks in operation and the Tithebarn pub when it was a pub.

Paul told Blog Preston: “I’m really glad I shared these photos through Blog Preston and on the Preston Past and Present Facebook page. The reaction to the photos has been amazing.

“The pictures have brought back many memories for people. While some are reminiscing about shops and buildings that are no longer there, others are remembering where they used to live.

“Seeing comments where old neighbours are reconnecting and talking about who lived in the street or who worked in the local hairdressers is amazing. I didn’t imagine the reaction would be quite so heart-warming to be honest!”
