A road close to Rivington is closed this evening as vehicles become stranded due to the weather.
Weather warnings are in place from the Met Office for central Lancashire for snow and ice as a result of persistent low temperatures across the UK.
Rivington Road, at Belmont, is closed this evening (21 November) with police attributing the closure to stranded vehicles due to the weather conditions.

They said the road is likely to be closed for some time.
A spokesperson for the police said: “We’re currently at the scene of a road closure on Rivington Road, in Belmont.
“The road is closed due to stranded vehicles due to the weather conditions and we anticipate this will be closed for some time.
“Please remember to drive to the conditions and allow plenty of time for your journey.”
