The country singers wife, Misty, shared an update on Facebook, along with a photo of her husband’s bloodstained top.

She said: “Good morning just wanted to give an update on Sundance.

“He was released late last night, we got home very early this morning, it was a ruff [sic] 3 hr ride home for him as the meds were wearing off.”

She added: “I’m posting a pic of his shirt just so y’all can see how lucky he was.

“Any higher or lower would have been devastating. I can’t express how grateful we are for all the messages, calls, and prayers.”

Fans of Head took to Facebook to share their relief over the singer’s condition.

One fan wrote: “So thankful this has a happy ending and Sundance is okay. God listens and has a plan for him.”

Another commented: “Prayers for Sundance. He had his Guardian Angel watching over him.

“The Lord didn’t need him yet. He has a lot more for him to do on this earth. God bless you Misty.

“May God give you strength and comfort during Sundance’s recovery. God bless you and your family.”

Head accidentally shot himself at his ranch in Texas on Friday, November 15.

The country singer’s agent, Trey Newman, told PEOPLE Head was hunting in the woods by himself when he received one bullet to the stomach around 4-4:30 p.m. local time.

The gunshot wound hit his navel area but reportedly managed to miss all of his vital organs.

Newman said: “The bullet is lodged in some fatty tissue, and the only way it could have happened is if it travelled through something else.”

He also confirmed that it “was not self-inflicted”.

The accident took place at Head’s Texas ranch.

According to Misty, Head had been alone at the ranch when the incident happened.

She said: “It was not his hunting rifle and no nobody shot him.

“He was out of the vehicle reaching in to grab his 22 when he grabbed it the 22 came out of its holster and hit the exterior of the Jeep just right and went off.

“Sundance said it happened so fast and he could see the bullet dislodging.”

According to the Facebook post update, Misty said her husband didn’t have his phone on him at the time of the shooting accident.

She added: “He took off down the driveway out to the main road to flag a car down for help.

“10 cars later someone turned around to help and called 911. Now this is what he has told me … he is heavily medicated at the moment. He’s so lucky and grateful to be alive.”

She also revealed that the doctors decided not to remove the bullet.

Head – whose real name is Jason – won season 11 of The Voice USA and shot to fame with the American public in 2016.

He was also a prominent figure of American Idol in 2007 where he made it to the semi final stage.

After his talent show victory, Head signed with Dean Dillon’s Wildcatter Records in 2018.

He has released four acclaimed albums since with the most recent coming out in 2022.

Some of his most popular tracks include Darlin’ Don’t Go, Leave Her Wild and Close Enough to Walk.

Head was also due to perform a total of nine shows across Texas this December.

It is currently unclear if those will go ahead.
