Two other men, 18-year-old Anau Majok and 20-year-old Musa Musa, were yesterday charged with a string of offences and remain before the courts.

The alleged incident started after police received reports five men were fighting at Hill End Road in Doonside about 12.30am yesterday.

Four men allegedly fled the scene in a hatchback while the fifth man ran away on foot.

Police, who started a pursuit, alleged Musa was found on foot at nearby Kilto Road.

He was allegedly armed with a knife and stabbed 34-year-old Constable Sasha Antic in the chest and back.

Antic continued with the arrest despite his injuries and Musa was taken into custody and charged.

A 34-year-old police officer who was allegedly stabbed multiple times in an "abhorrent" attack bravely continued with an arrest and remains in hospital tonight in good spirits.

Police pursuing the hatchback were forced to stop after it crashed into a pole on Power Street and the four men allegedly inside fled the scene on foot.

Officers ran off after them and managed to arrest Majok and the 21-year-old man who was charged today.

Antic was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition yesterday.

He was released from hospital last night and is expected to fully recover from his injuries, police said in an update today.

"He is in good spirits, he wants to go back to work," NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Gavin Wood had said of Antic yesterday.

Police are today searching for the remaining two men.
