Christmas bin collection dates for Preston, South Ribble, Fylde, Wyre, Ribble Valley and Chorley

The Christmas bin collection dates have been revealed for Preston, South Ribble and surrounding areas.

We have put together a guide on when you need to put your bins out over the festive period which also covers you if in Chorley, Fylde, Wyre or the Ribble Valley area.

If you live in the Preston City Council area, your bin collection may be affected if it is on the following dates: 

  • Wednesday 25 December 2024
  • Thursday 26 December 2024
  • Wednesday 1 January 2025

If your property is affected, your bin will be stickered to notify you of any collection changes. You can find out what date it has been changed to on the council website here.

All recycling will be collected on the next scheduled collection and extra recycling can be placed next to bins in untied carrier bags.

Garden waste collections will start on Monday 13 January 2025. In South Ribble, garden waste collections will also start again on this date. 

Alternative collection days for bins can be found on the South Ribble Borough Council website as there will be no collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year. 

Bin collection dates for Chorley can also be found on the council’s website by typing your postcode into it.

In Wyre, the Ribble Valley and Fylde there are new dates for December and January collections below

Friday 27 December Saturday 28 December
Wednesday 1 January Thursday 2 January

Friday 3 January Saturday 4 January

Monday 30 December and Tuesday 31 December remain the same. Normal refuse collection will resume the week beginning Monday 6 January.
