The post, which appeared on Reddit a few days ago, started, “I was doing some Christmas shopping at Costco today, hoping to catch some deals.
“I stumbled across something unexpected: a handle of Costco’s new premium cognac.”
They followed up by explaining, “I’m usually a Hennessy drinker; it’s expensive but worth it.”
“Costco typically sells handles of Hennessy for $74.99, which is already a solid deal compared to other stores.”
In a picture posted to the social media site, the person shared a side-by-side photo of the two similar drinks.
In a significant price difference, the Reddit user shared: “Costco had their new cognac displayed for $47 a handle.”
“I couldn’t resist grabbing one to try. At that price, if it’s anything close to Hennessy, it’s a steal.”
“Here’s my question: has anyone else seen or tried this? What are your thoughts?”
PUBLIC OPINION
Other Costco members were quick to dive into the comments of the post, which has since been upvoted over 900 times.
One comment read, “It’s produced by Peyrat, they disclose it on the back label.”
A second person quipped, “Funny enough, I just bought a bottle of this last night, but I haven’t had a chance to try any yet.”
“I have had the Kirkland XO which is made by Peyrat-Associés as well.”
“It was really good, especially with some blackberries and chocolate. Hennessy is good as well, but hard to justify the price.”

From the comments, it was clear that shoppers were happy with the affordable alternative.
One buyer shared, “I’ve had it multiple times for holiday parties, birthdays, and that’s the bottle I bring.”
“I don’t think anything is topping this new 1.75L bottle for $47.99. Im having a glass right now, and I swear, this bottle actually tastes superior to the XO.”
Other users were also quick to point out that it was ‘better than Hennessy.’
As we countdown with the final few days of Christmas shopping, this festive favorite is likely to fly off the shelves.
