Dragon Age: The Veilguard was a welcome return for the series[/caption]

BioWare took almost a decade to create Dragon Age: The Veilguard but it was worth the wait.

We loved returning to Thedas and encountering familiar faces as well as building relationships with a whole new cast of characters.

Combat has seen an overhaul in a fresh and fast-paced style whether you choose warrior, rogue or mage.

4. Dragon’s Dogma 2

We loved the fantastical encounters of Dragon’s Dogma 2[/caption]

Another sequel we waited years for, Dragon’s Dogma 2 features the spectacular encounters we’ve been waiting for.

Aside from the fantastical fights, you can recruit other players’ characters and pawns to travel the world with.

This gives you more strategic layers to each battle, or they could turn into a dragon and destroy a whole village.

3. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Rebirth adds more context to characters we already love[/caption]

Following the classic story after Cloud and the gang leave Midgar, Rebirth tells the second part of the story of one of the best games of all time.

It expands on the story of the original with more side quests, and additional character dialogue that reveals more about them.

Rebirth also alters the story slightly so both old and new fans of the classic RPG will find something to love.

2. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Elden Ring: A fallen warrior, surrounded by enemies, amidst a fiery battle.
Shadow of the Erdtree is so expansive we think it’s its own game

Elden Ring came out in 2022, but Shadow of the Erdtree is such an expansive DLC that we included it on the list.

It changes up how character-building works, putting everyone on the same playing field, and forcing you to adapt your playstyle.

If you loved Elden Ring, but wish it had given you more of a challenge, then Shadow of the Erdtree is the game for you.

Metaphor: ReFantazio was undoubtedly our favourite RPG of the year[/caption]

From many of the developers of the modern Persona series, Metaphor: ReFantazio takes aspects of that series and takes them to the next level.

Metaphor adds a semi open world for players to explore, giving them more freedom when it comes to how to spend their days.

Get to know your team and the world of Euchronia as you fight for democracy within the region.
