M6 crash sees two lanes closed and delays of almost an hour

Two lanes are closed on the M6 due to a crash.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the southbound carriageway at around 5pm this evening (4 December).

The incident happened between junction 28 for Leyland and junction 27 for Standish.

North West Ambulance Service and police are in attendance as a result of the incident.

National Highways: North West is reporting delays of approximately 50 minutes and four miles of congestion due to the incident.

A spokesperson for National Highways: North West said: “Two lanes (of three) are closed on the M6 southbound between J28 (Leyland) and J27 (Standish) due to a collision.

“Emergency services are on scene. There are delays of approximately 50 minutes with four miles of congestion.”
