Priory principal Matt Eastham said: “Patrick, at just 18 years old, was a remarkable young man who lived life to the fullest. His family remembers him as a “true force of nature” who touched the hearts of everyone he met with his kindness and loyalty. Here at school, we have very fond memories of Patrick as a quiet, hardworking, kind and gentle soul, with a great sense of humour.

“Patrick’s passion for motorsports, cars, and mechanics was well-known, and he died doing what he loved most.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Patrick’s family and friends during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”

Patrick went on to become a motorsport student at Myerscough College.

A statement released by the college said: “Everyone at Myerscough College extends our deepest and heartfelt condolences and sympathies to Patrick’s family and friends, after his passing at the weekend following a road traffic collision.

“The whole college is devastated to lose such a fantastic young man who had his whole life in front of him.

“Patrick was a committed and dedicated student, passionate about motorsports and mechanics, who completed a Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles in summer 2024.

“Patrick was a credit to both himself and the college, always giving the very best of everything he turned his hand to, and we were honoured that he chose Myerscough to help him follow his career ambitions. His tutors say that Patrick was a great pleasure to teach and his kindness, knowledge and friendly nature shone through. He will be sadly missed by us all.”

A GoFundMe page set up in memory of Patrick and to help with funeral costs has now reached more than £4,500.

Preston Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the crash which took place at 3.48pm and closed Navigation Way for much of Sunday afternoon and evening.
