Pillar of Preston community Kailash Parekh gains doctorate from city’s university

A community worker from Preston has graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with a Doctorate in Education.

Kailash Parekh MBE has been a campaigner in the city for many years.

She was part of Preston’s Climate Jury program and works closely with BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, a Hindu sacred place of worship.

In November 2023 Kailash was appointed as the Diversity and Community Magistrate for Lancashire and in 2019 was appointed as the Hindu Representative on Preston City Council’s newly formed Preston Faith Covenant Forum.

Her daughter, Neetal said the academic accomplishment has been ‘inspirational.’

She said: “Kailash’s journey has been nothing short of inspirational, serving as a role model for so many of us with her resilience, humility, and grace.”
