A large number of officers were on hand to greet football fans home from the capital at the weekend.
Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers both had away fixtures to London-based clubs, with both ending in defeat, on Saturday (21 December) with fans then converging onto services to head home to Lancashire.
Witnesses, who had also been in London for football, reported to Blog Preston that some fans appeared to be gearing up to fight when exiting the train at Preston.

However, while British Transport Police were called to the scene and dozens of officers were present, no arrests were made and fans were dispersed without incident.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Preston Railway Station at around 9.40pm on Saturday (21 December) following reports of anti-social behaviour.
“Officers attended and those involved dispersed from the station shortly after.”
