A block of temporary accommodation close to Preston Police Station is set for a major overhaul.

Proposals for 205 Lancaster Road North bedsits have been lodged to convert the building into 15 apartments.

Plans put in by Strettles and drawn up by architects Studio John Bridge show it will receive major internal and external alterations as well as a second-floor extension.

The apartments will all be one-bed studio apartments. According to planning documents 26 people are currently housed in the building.

The development plan states the work will ‘improve the quality of living standards throughout’.

In doing the work the car parking at the building, which is currently paid-for short-term parking, is to reduce by 15 spaces to only have nine parking spaces remaining.

The proposal has already drawn a response from Preston City Council’s housing department who have stated they have concerns about the building meeting fire safety regulations.
