Randy Moss issues emotional statement to Sunday NFL Countdown team after heartbreaking cancer diagnosis

RANDY Moss sent a message to his Sunday NFL Countdown colleagues amid his liver cancer diagnosis.

The ESPN star and NFL legend, 47, revealed the statement on social media on Sunday.

Moss first revealed that he was battling a health condition during a Sunday NFL Countdown show on December 1[/caption]

Sunday NFL Countdown has continued in Moss’s absence from the show.

Moss stepped down from his role on the program on December 6 due to his health problems.

So on Sunday, Moss posted a message on X and tagged ESPN. writing, “Sunday NFL countdown……. I MISS U TOO!!

“My guys keeping it going. UGM segment was great!!”

Moss referenced Sunday NFL Countdown’s You Got Mossed (or UGM) segment which highlights notable wide receiver moments in football.

The segment is usually hosted by the NFL Hall of Famer wide receiver Moss.

On December 13, Moss told fans that he did have cancer and opened up about his overall condition.

The 47-year-old appeared in an Instagram Live video and was wearing a “Team Moss” shirt.

Moss announced that he has been recovering from major surgery after undergoing a six-hour operation to remove the cancer.

“I’ve told y’all over the last couple of weeks about me battling something internally, and ya boy is a cancer survivor.

Later, he said, “I did have cancer, they found it in the bile duct, right between the pancreas and the liver, and the cancer was sitting right outside the build duct.

“So my doctors went in, I had six hours’ surgery and for a lot of you guys wondering, you can Google it.

“I had a Whipple procedure. The best doctor in the United States, Dr [John Martinie, I am forever grateful.”

Moss later shared that he’s progressing but that “it’s going to be a tough road with some chemo and some radiation.”

He has been an analyst for ESPN since 2016.

“For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating ‘Countdown’ with his insight and passion,” ESPN said in a statement.

“He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”

Moss previously worked for Fox Sports and was a defensive coordinator at a high school in North Carolina, where his son was playing football.

He is considered to be one of the best wideouts in the history of the NFL.

Moss has six Pro Bowls, an Offensive Rookie of the Year award, and a Comeback Player of the Year award on his resume.
