Heavily armed policemen have reportedly sealed off the palace of the 16th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, restricting his free movement outside the palace.
It was gathered that the security personnel took over the palace as early as 6am on Friday manning strategic positions around the complex.
Sanusi who was scheduled to depart for Bichi to perform a function there was unable to do so due to the heavy security presence at the palace.
It was also gathered that the emir had planned to host a meeting with clerics and economists to discuss the contentious Tax Reforms Bill.
However, the deployment of security personnel prevented the meeting from taking place.
