The one thousand paper cranes.

Taking inspiration from Sadako Sasaki, a 12 year old Japanese girl who died from leukaemia following the Hiroshima bombing in World War II, the Preston origami folders wanted to create a visual prayer for peace that would be a talking point and a reminder of how we must strive to avoid the horrors of war.

The cranes were folded over a period of 3 months and carefully strung up to create a cloud of colour and texture.

The cafe is open Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 10am to 1pm where visitors will be able to look at the art installation.
