A popular bridge used by walkers has been claimed by a high-flowing river.
The footbridge connects Higher Walton Road to the Holland House estate and Forty Steps and is very popular for dog-walkers to access the fields in the area from the main road.
But images shared with Blog Preston show that the bridge was ‘taken’ by the River Darwen in last night’s heavy rain.

The wider Preston area is dealing with the aftermath of heavy rain overnight with roads, car parks and even a restaurant flooded this morning (1 January).
The weather warnings for rain, issued by the Met Office, have subsided but a new warning for ice is in place from this evening.
