THE Cleveland Browns have apparently given up on DeShaun Watson as their quarterback.

Watson, 29, lost his starting job to Jameis Winston this season.

And he then ruptured his Achilles again and underwent surgery last week.

Watson will likely miss a large portion of the 2025 season with his recovery.

And Winston is a free agent, meaning the Browns face uncertainty at the position.

Cornerback Denzel Ward was interviewed by TMZ Sports.

And he urged the team to lock in the quarterback position.

“We’ve got a good team for real,” Ward said.

“But we’ve got to solidify that quarterback position.

“You got a quarterback position it’s going to take you far in this league.

“I don’t think we’re too far off.

“We just need to solidify that position.”

Cleveland finished 2024 with a 3-14 record.

They hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft at the end of April.

But Watson has a fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million deal he signed in 2022.

Watson was already having a disastrous season for the Browns, passing for just 1,148 yards and five touchdowns in seven games, so there is no telling how he could play if and when he comes back.

It is possible that the Browns cut ties with him eventually, as he has only played 19 games in three seasons, and is unlikely to play next season.

NFL fans think it might be time for Watson to retire and have shared their thoughts on social media.

“Browns gonna get out of that contract somehow,” one fan said.

“That’s AWFUL. Have to feel for him,” another fan said.

“Dang. Not fun,” a third fan said.

“Yeah his career is over,” a fourth fan said.

“It’s time for him to go. He’s not worth the huge salary Cleveland’s paying him,” a fifth fan said.
