M6 lorry fire partially shuts motorway near Charnock Richard services

Delays are building on the M6 northbound due a lorry on fire.

Two lanes are shut northbound near to Charnock Richard Services.

Video footage show flames coming from the lorry on the inside lane. It is understood no one has been hurt in the fire.

The lane closures are in place from the services up to Junction 28 of the M6 for Leyland. The fire took place around 7.30pm on Tuesday (7 January).

Police say this is due to the vehicle fire and damage to the road surface.

There are delays back towards Junction 27 and queues building.

The motorway is expected to have a partial closure in place until around 10pm.
