The M6 is closed in both directions due to a serious crash.
Emergency services were called to the scene of a serious crash on the M6 northbound between junction 27 for Chorley and 28 for Leyland at around 3pm this afternoon (12 January).
The northbound carriageway was closed with Lancashire Constabulary and North West Ambulance Service in attendance.

The southbound carriageway has also been closed to allow for the air ambulance to attend the scene.
It is expected that the southbound carriageway will reopen before the northbound.
Traffic is diverting along the A49 via the hollow diamond symbol diversion.
National Highways said trapped traffic on the northbound side had now been turned around and diverted off the motorway shortly after 4pm. Traffic on the southbound side which is currently trapped between the junction closure and the incident is also now in process of being turned around.
