Work is continuing on the New Hall Lane bus lane as signs and road markings have gone down and up on and alongside the road.

Lancashire County Council say no enforcement is taking place on the bus-only lane – the tenth in the city – as work is still ongoing.

The bus lane, which received hundreds of objections from residents and businesses along New Hall Lane, is being put in from the Mosley Street turn heading towards Preston city centre up to the London Road junction.

The bus lane is only on the city-bound side of the road.

There are gaps in the bus lane for the turns to Lidl and the roads off New Hall Lane on the left-hand side as you head towards the city.

Cabinet member for highways and transport, county councillor Rupert Swarbrick, told Blog Preston: “Work is still ongoing on New Hall Lane in Preston. The first phase involved creating the bus lane and some resurfacing of the road.

“The second phase of works will create additional capacity and upgrade traffic signals at the New Hall Lane/London Road/Queen Street junction later in 2025.

“The bus lane is not operational yet, however once a date has been agreed for this to go live then there will be signs advertising this in the location.”

No date has been given for when the bus lane in New Hall Lane will be enforced with bus lane fines.
