A person has died in an incident on the M6, Blog Preston understands.

The M6 was closed in both directions yesterday evening (12 January) after a serious collision was reported at around 3.30pm.

The incident happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 27 for Chorley and 28 for Leyland, with the southbound carriageway closed for a shorter period of time while the air ambulance attended the scene.

A person is understood to have been killed in the incident.

Blog Preston understands Lancashire Constabulary will release more details to the public regarding the incident later today.

The M6 northbound was closed until around midnight while police carried out inspection work in the aftermath of the incident.
