Preston Bus has confirmed it has lost five services and announced timetable changes across more than a dozen services.

The Deepdale-headquartered firm, part of the Rotala group, confirmed it has lost the tender to operate the 25A, 45, 76, 78 and 114 services.

The bus firm is now consulting on timetable changes on a number of other routes.

A spokesperson for Preston Bus said: “You may have noticed that there has been a lot of exciting things happening with Preston Bus recently. There have been a number of new vehicles introduced into the fleet, and our Deepdale Road bus Depot is undergoing a transformation.

“With this in mind we have also reviewed our Network of services to ensure that our operation is relevant to the needs of our customers.

“We would like to hear your views about proposed changes to our bus network in Preston.”

All the Preston Bus changes planned, by service number

6 – Minor timetable changes planned

8 – Sunday evening journeys scrapped, the last bus will be 6.40pm from Preston and returning at 6.53pm from Moor Nook. Minor timetable changes also planned.

16 – Increased services on a Monday to Saturday, going to every 10 minutes. Journeys beyond Preston Bus Station to and from the railway station are withdrawn.

19/20/19(A) – Journeys on service 20 will now be numbered 19A and journeys that are currently operated as service 19A will be renumbered to 19S. Mon-Fri AM peak there will now be another journey
towards Royal Preston Hospital due to customer demand.

23 – During weekday mornings an additional journey between Preston and Fulwood ASDA is being introduced

31 – At the present time the proposed route change in the Savick/Lea area is not planned to commence, however Lancashire County Council are working towards this being available later in 2025.

A spokesperson for Preston Bus said of the 31 change: “A few years ago, we revised the route of service 31 to no longer operate via Ainsdale Drive in Savick, and Thorntrees Avenue, Thornpark Drive, Hawthorn Crescent, Parkthorn Road, Campion Drive in Lea. This was due to badly parked cars on these residential side roads often causing buses to have to divert.

“Since doing so, we have been under pressure from the community, including local councillors, to reinstate the former route. We have said we will do so, provided LCC install parking restrictions at the key hot spots to facilitate this. LCC highways are currently working on plans to introduce these restrictions but these will not be done in time for March.”

35 – Minor timetable changes

43/44/48 – Journeys on service 44 will now operate to Cottam and on service 48 journeys will now operate through to Royal Preston Hospital. Service 43 Sunday is slightly retimed as a result.

46 – Being re-routed via Tom Benson Way and no longer serving Tanterton and Ingol. In the final few months of Preston Bus operation before being handed over to Vision Bus, as Blog Preston reported last month.
